Jo has worked in health and social care for over 35 years, initially training as a Registered General Nurse at York Hospital, then as a District Nurse within North Yorkshire. Initially completing a BHSC in Health studies at Leeds University, a dementia course, and an MA in Public Policy and Management at the University of York.

Developing a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience working as a Regulator and dementia specialist with CQC for over 12 years, and as a senior leader (Head of Provider Services), Dementia Lead and Nominated Individual for all Regulated Services in a Local Authority.

Jo has undertaken Prince2 Project management training and a range of leadership courses.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

2015-2018: Led Older Person’s Accommodation Project, relocating 250+ seniors.

2016: City of York Council Winner Inspirational Leader Award for enhancing dementia awareness.

2020: Opened new care home in 4 weeks amid pandemic, using co-produced model.

2021: Created dementia collaborative for city’s strategy with stakeholders.

2022: Enhanced well-being in care home via redesign, values, and systems upgrade.

2023: Revamped home care service with focus on CQC prep and policies.

2025: Delivered 4 day training session to North Yorkshire Care Home providers, based on CQC methodology, medication, team building, investigations, values based recruitment & care practices
